Hi, I’m Ambre Moore-author, illustrator, and wildlife biologist.

I create picture books that celebrate nature, imagination, and quiet wonder. From a river’s rhythm to a bat’s flutter to a child’s biggest dreams, each story I write invites young readers to pause, explore, and connect.

The wild part of the world that I call home.

About the Author

I’m Ambre Moore, a children’s book author, illustrator, and wildlife biologist from the Pacific Northwest. Currently, I live with my family on a boat tucked into a quiet river in Oregon. Every season brings something new to see, hear, and wonder about.

Before creating children’s books, I worked in all kinds of wild places, from fishing boats in Alaska to bat caves in Arizona, an Air Force base in Florida, and even deep in the forests of the Philippines. My background has always brought me close to animals and the natural world and those experiences now inspire the stories I tell through art and words.

When I’m not writing or illustrating, I’m usually off on a quiet adventure with my husband and daughter - eating Chinese food at our favorite restaurant, searching the library for new bedtime stories, or combing the riverbank in search of feathers and fancy rocks. We spend our days watching wildlife from our boat, swimming in the river during summer, and heading to the coast to go clamming and crabbing when the tides are right.

Every story I create is rooted in real moments from my life, be it the animals I’ve studied, the places I’ve lived, or the quiet adventures I share with my family. I hope my books help young readers slow down, look closer, and fall a little more in love with the wild world around them.

Whether it’s A Year on the River, The Bat’s Garden, or Room to Run, my stories celebrate curiosity, quiet wonder, and the wild beauty of our world. I hope my books bring a little magic to your day and maybe even inspire the next young scientist, dreamer, or storyteller.
